While it's sometimes easy to forget that Morrissey actually still makes music these days, the Smiths hero is getting ready to deliver a new album. Rather than hit us up with a series of new originals, however, he's going to be releasing a full-on covers album.

The upcoming LP is called California Son, according to a new message from Moz on Morrissey Central. The album has been produced by Joe Chiccarelli and will arrive via BMG next year. So far, there's no firm release date, but it's rumoured to be arriving in March.

So who is Morrissey actually covering? The artists include the likes of Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, Buffy Sainte-Marie, Roy Orbison, Laura Nyro, Carly Simon and Melanie, among others.

You can see the complete rundown of songs included on California Son down below via Morrissey Central. It's unclear, however, if the song will appear in this exact order.

Morrissey's last album was Low in High School, which will be treated to a deluxe reissue on Friday (December 7).

"Morning Starship" (Jobriath)
"Don't Interrupt The Sorrow" (Joni Mitchell)
