Montreal's Suoni Per Il Popolo Festival Announces 2013 Lineup with Jonathan Richman, Iceage, Colin Stetson, Grouper

We've already learned the details of a string a Montreal festivals in 2013, including Osheaga and Pouzza Fest, and now we've got another in the form of Suoni Per Il Popolo, which runs from June 5 to 22.

This annual event, which is now in its 13th year, focuses on experimental, improvised and avant-garde music across genres like free jazz, hip-hop, noise, world/global, electronica, soundscapes, experimental folk, rock and pop, and musique actuelle.

This year, performers include Jonathan Richman, Iceage, Oso Blanco (led by Colin Stetson), Nü Sensae, Oneida, Grouper, Merchandise, Pelt, the Soft Moon, Le Révélateur, Chris Madak (aka Bee Mask, here performing under his own name), Peter Brötzmann & Joe McPhee, Bill Orcutt, Jefre Cantu-Ledesma, Mist, Spectre Folk, Herbcraft, P.G. Six, Ken Vandermark, Rebecca Foon, Babysitter & JLK, MV & EE, and many more.

Performances will take place at venues like Casa Del Popolo, La Sala Rossa and Il Motore. Check out the day-by-day schedule over at Suoni Per Il Popolo's website, where you can also see the full list of artists.
