The long-running Suoni Per Il Popolo Festival (which translates to Sounds for the People) has spent nearly a decade bringing the best in experimental and avant-garde music to Montreal. Besides its diverse line-up, another thing that sets the fest apart from other festivals is the fact that it often runs for nearly a month. Now, the organizers of Suoni Per Il Popolo have revealed the preliminary details for their ninth year running.

The 2010 edition of the fest will run from June 7 to 23, and will include acts from across the map, both geographically and musically. Confirmed artists so far include the No-Neck Blues Band, minimal soundscape genius William Basinki, art rockers Oneida, free-jazz providers the Matthew Shipp Trio, long-running noise rockers Hair Police and garage punks Reigning Sound.

That's just a small sample of the numerous exciting acts already confirmed for the fest, with more to come. For a complete list of all those artists already confirmed, and for further updates and ticket availability, head here.
