Published Jul 31, 2014Though the summer festival season is already well underway, you may want to consider pencilling in a stop at Montreal's Passovah, which has revealed its booked the likes of PS I Love You, Frog Eyes and Suuns.
The fest takes place at various venues around Montreal between August 21 and 24, with organizers confirming that more than 60 artists are attached to Passovah.
Despite the appearance of West Coast act Frog Eyes, Kingston indie rockers PS I Love You and Charlotte Cornfield, the bulk of Passovah's bookings are local. This includes Suuns, Miracle Fortress member Graham Van Pelt's new Inside Touch project, Seoul, Sea Oleena, Philémon Cimon, Saxsyndrum, Phil Sparkz, Pang Attack, Conservation Status and more.
You'll find the full lineup details here.
Save for Suuns' August 23 performance at Casa del Popolo, the festival is being presented as a series of pay-what-you-want events, though organizers are suggesting attendees pitch in between $5 and $25.
A free party ahead of the festival is also being held August 20 at Nouveau Palais and will feature a performance from local DJ Pas Cha.
In addition to the live performances, the Passovah team have prepped a locally themed compilation in partnership with Villa Villa Nola. The collection, which features cuts from several acts performing at Passovah, is likewise pay-what-you-want, but proceeds will go towards the Ange-Aimee Memorial Bursary. The award, which will hand $500 to three students in Concordia University's journalism program, was named after former CBC journalist Ange-Aimee Woods, who died unexpectedly from heart failure earlier this year.
