Millions

Gather Scatter

BY Keith CarmanPublished Mar 24, 2009

If Lords are best described as "what happens when a band's attention deficit disorder is corralled into something aural," Millions would be the result of putting that harried outfit on a salad of pills. Gather Scatter hones and refines their brethren's venomous frustration into a pointed shot of rage. The rough edges have been gruffly sanded off so as to make for something modestly less chaotic, but unquestionably forthright and passionate. Musically, these eight tracks smash progressive elements into the girth and brutal rage of hardcore and metal, resulting in an impressive display of technicality, captivating melodies and thunderous mood swings even a Tourette's sufferer would be taken aback by. With unending tenacity and freakishness so ugly it's compelling, even the band's longer tracks - clocking in around a whopping three-and-a-half minutes - whip by with dizzying expediency.
