Toronto punks METZ recently opened up to Exclaim! about some new material they've been kicking around and plans for a "Get Off" video, and today (June 19) that clip has arrived.
Alex Edkins from the band previously hinted at the clip, saying: "A very, very talented filmmaker and musician made it for us... I don't know if I'm allowed to say his name, but you're very familiar with him and his work, so I think you'll enjoy it. Animation — that's a bit of a tip there."
Well, they've unveiled the new video and it was directed by fellow Canuck and Sub Pop artist Chad VanGaalen. The animated clip is presented as a short film titled "Origins of Smahmpy the Flying Retriever," following the surreal story of an alien dog.
METZ are currently wrapping up a massive world tour with some festival dates, which you can check out here. Hit play below to watch the video for "Get Off," courtesy of Stereogum.
