Although they're no longer touring with Bloc Party due to some "sudden production decisions" that broke their agreed-upon terms, Metric are playing a handful of June concerts in Canada to celebrate 16 years of their 2009 album Fantasies — including a hometown gig at Toronto's Budweiser Stage on June 6 with Sam Roberts Band and the Dears, which will now be livestreaming globally on Veeps.
"This show means a lot to us, and it's not just because we like playing big fun amphitheatres with state-of-the-art production that are named after beer," the band explained in an Instagram post. "The Bud Stage really is an excellent venue that fans love seeing shows at and where musicians love to play because it is just a fantastic experience all around. Toronto is such a special place and I love that we get to bring you into the moment we're having here, wherever you may physically be."
They continued, "So plan a watch party, put on your favourite vintage tour tee, the tighter the better! Maybe even attempt an asymmetrical hairstyle for the occasion? Let's make it feel like we're all in the same room together… and it's 2009."
Fans from anywhere in the world can tune in live via Veeps by buying tickets or subscribing. Tickets are also still available to attend the show in person, with limited quantities being featured as part of Live Nation's "$30 Ticket to Summer" promotion.
