Metallica are the latest band to embrace the drive-in concert trend, as the group have just announced a special event as part of the "Encore Drive-In Nights" concert series. And yes, Metallica will be bringing the show to Canada.

The event will be held on August 29, and it will find Metallica bringing a special concert performance to a long list of drive-in theatres across the U.S. and Canada. This will mark the first time an actual rock band has participated in the "Encore Drive-In" series, which so far has featured a variety of country acts.

For the event, staff will wear appropriate PPE and cars will be stationed six feet apart. The show will also include a special guest performance by Three Days Grace.

According to the press release, "The show will be shot specially for the Encore Drive-In Nights Series at a location near the band's Northern California headquarters and will subsequently be edited and mixed by Metallica's award winning production team to the highest standards possible. The concert, the band's first show in nearly a year, will feature material from throughout their near four decade career and provide Metallica fans with an intimate, unique and truly memorable concert experience."

Tickets are on sale this Friday (August 14), with pre-sales starting on Wednesday (August 12). One ticket gets a carload of six into the event and will include four downloads of Metallica's upcoming album S&M2, which is officially out on August 28.

You can learn about tickets, as well as see the extensive list of participating venues, here. As you will see, plenty of Canadian venues are taking part.
