Members of Toronto death metal outfit Tomb Mold and Boston project Innumerable Forms have launched new band Dream Unending. The duo of the former's Derrick Vella and the latter's Justin DeTore will deliver debut album Tide Turns Eternal on November 19 through 20 Buck Spin.
The seven-song Tide Turns Eternal finds DeTore handling drums and vocals, while Vella handles guitar, 12-string guitar, bass and fretless bass. A first taste of the effort arrives today with "In Cipher I Weep," a near eight-minute traipse through movements heavy and hazy which you can immerse yourself in below.
"'In Cipher I Weep' was the first song we wrote. That must have been nearly 2 years ago now. Definitely the darkest song on the album. Intense lyrics," Vella shares of the song [via MetalSucks]. "It leads off with that strange fretless bass, those dying flange harmonics, the vampiric harmonizing, the haunting organ (Thanks, Dad) and transforms into this spellbinding piece full of beauty only to be undone with the heaviest moment of the album. Justin's vocals sound like the pillars of heaven crashing into the earth. It's good stuff."
Vella and Tomb Mold last released Planetary Clairvoyance, which landed among Exclaim!'s 10 Best Metal and Hardcore Albums of 2019 and the 50 Best Canadian Albums of the 2010s.
