Members of R.E.M. and Sleater-Kinney Team Up as Filthy Friends, Share Anti-Trump Track

Tons of beloved indie and alternative acts have been contributing to the 30 Days, 30 Songs campaign, teaming up to take down Donald Trump by the power of rock'n'roll, and over the weekend, another addition to the set arrived from some real heavy hitters.

Filthy Friends brings together Sleater-Kinney's Corin Tucker and R.E.M.'s Peter Buck, as well as Scott McCaughey, Bill Rieflin and Kurt Bloch, and they've unleashed their debut single through 30 Days, 30 Songs.

Titled "Despierata," the song is every bit as sharp as one would expect from the unabashedly left-leaning musicians, bringing together Buck's jangly guitar wizardry and Tucker's unmistakable, biting vocals atop an equally fired-up rhythm section.

Perhaps even more exciting, the band are expected to release a full-length album next year. Buck claims that "Despierata" will likely appear on the upcoming album, but before all the details get fleshed out, you get an idea of things to come by listening to the powerful political statement that is "Despierata" in the player below.
