The self-titled debut from Melody's Echo Chamber is a truly international release. The project features French singer Melody Prochet backed by the members of Australia's Tame Impala, and the album will be released by U.S. label Fat Possum Records on September 11.
UPDATE: The album is now due out September 25.
An announcement accompanying lead single "Crystallized" (listen below) notes that the album was recorded and mixed with Tame Impala's Kevin Parker, both in Perth and at Prochet's grandparents' beach house in Cavalière, France.
The collaboration is said to be "a kaleidoscopic fusion of psych rock and warm hypnotic pop," which draws on influences like Spiritualized, Pram, Robert Wyatt and Olivier Messiaen.
Prior to the album's release, Melody's Echo Chamber will put out a split seven-inch with Unknown Mortal Orchestra, featuring a new song backed by a MEC cover by UMO. "Crystallized" is also slated to receive a seven-inch release via Fat Possum.
