Megadeth's Dave Mustaine Rips Judas Priest Crew Onstage: "Amateur Piece of Shit"

Seemingly leaning into "mess as album rollout" release strategy, Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine was captured on video reportedly berating a member of Judas Priest's road crew during a weekend performance.

Following anti-mask diatribes and tales from the White House bathroom, Mustaine's latest bit of on-camera crankery came at Spain's Barcelona Rock Fest this past Saturday (July 2), where he and his Megadeth bandmates were headlining the event's final day alongside Judas Priest and KISS.

As Blabbermouth explains, Barcelona Rock Fest's site layout places two identical main stages side by side, not unlike how Heavy MTL or Osheaga are set up. While one band plays one stage, a crew prepares the other for the following act, and while this method eliminates travel time between performances, it apparently also makes the most self-important frontmen incredibly irritable.

The site reports that six songs into Megadeth's set, MegaDave became MegaDiva, taking issue with Judas Priest's crew soundchecking as part of their pre-show setup. "We'll wait till he's done checking his guitar over there," he told the crowd, pausing the performance to stare down the offending crew member and flip them the bird.

"The last night of the tour — we went all the way to the last fucking night, and then some pussy over on the stage next to us has to start playing while we're playing. How fucking pathetic, amateur piece of shit you are." After another pause, Mustaine continues, "Can we proceed now?" before muttering another entirely undeserved bit of vulgar slang.

It seems unless you're sick, dying or dead, Mustaine doesn't want to hear it. You can watch his temper flare in the player below.

This September, Mustaine and co. will deliver Megadeth's 16th studio album, The Sick, The Dying… and The Dead!. The follow-up to 2016's Dystopia includes contributions from Ice-T and Sammy Hagar.
