After sexual misconduct claims recently surfaced against Megadeth bassist David Ellefson, the band themselves have now issued a statement in attempts to do some damage control.
"We are aware of the recent statements regarding David Ellefson, and are watching developments closely," the band wrote. "As it relates to creativity and business, we are all familiar with one another. However, there are clearly aspects of David's private life that he has kept to himself."
Megadeth added: "As this situation unfolds, it is important that all voices be heard clearly and respectfully. We look forward to the truth coming to light."

As previously reported, 56-year-old Ellefson was accused of grooming an underage girl after a number of graphic exchanges appeared online over the weekend involving Ellefson and the woman.
Ellefson — who has been married for 27 years and is a Lutheran pastor — released his own statement yesterday (May 10) to address the situation, stating the woman seen in the graphic video exchanges with him was actually of age and that the actions were consensual.
His response included a statement from the supposed woman in question, who wrote: "Yes, those video calls did happen but I was the one to initiate them and never was I underage, I was always a consenting adult."
However, Ellefson's Instagram statement, as well as that of the woman, was then deleted from the platform for reasons unknown. So far, Megadeth's statement has not also been deleted.
