After sharing in April that the 2022 edition of Maryland Deathfest could be the event's final edition, the metal minds behind the long-running celebration of heavy music have announced a 2024 return following a hiatus next year.

In a new statement made yesterday (August 2), organizers called upon headbangers to mark their calendars for Maryland Deathfest's 19th edition, set to run in 2024 from May 23 to 26.

"We won't be determining the venue format, booking/announcing bands, or going on sale with tickets for MDF XIX until sometime in the first half of 2023, but for now, go ahead and pencil in the dates," their statement reads.

Additionally, organizers revealed, "Moving forward, Maryland Deathfest will be the only festival we produce. The upcoming UK Deathfest in London next month will be the last of our events outside of Maryland."

Those events outside Maryland included Canadian offshoot Quebec Deathfest, which ran for two editions in Montreal in both 2018 and 2019. Not unlike the main event in the US, a third Quebec edition planned for 2020 was delayed and ultimately cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Maryland Deathfest 2022 ran this past May 26 through 29.

If you're looking to make the trip across the pond to UK Deathfest in London, it runs from September 2 to 4 and features Gorgoroth, Autopsy, Hellhammer, Immolation, Nuclear Assault and plenty more. Further details can be found via Maryland Deathfest's official website.
