Legendary Toronto art pop outfit Martha and the Muffins have returned with a rework of the English Beat's "Save It for Later" for Popguru Sound & Vision's Coverama compilation.
Initially recorded for Netflix's Sex Education, the track now arrives accompanied by a self-directed music video, which you can watch below.
The band said of the track in a statement:
We originally recorded "Save It for Later" at the suggestion of a UK music supervisor to pitch for the trailer of a Netflix series. Between Martha's vocal arrangements and our guitars and keyboards, there are a lot of additional little hooks that didn't exist in the original that we think makes our version almost like an early Martha and the Muffins song. We hope we've captured and translated the free-wheeling spirit of the Beat's original song in our version.
Coverama is due May 20 — courtesy of The Confidence Emperors and Popguru Sound & Vision — and features additional contributions by Juliana Eye, Alex Exists and John Orpheus, among others.
