Although the Rolling Stones are no longer hitting Canada on their "No Filter" tour, we're still getting "Moves Like Jagger": Los Angeles' Maroon 5 will be the first major act from the States to perform on Canadian soil since border restrictions eased back on August 9.

Now that the Canadian border has been opened to vaccinated Americans and permanent residents, the longstanding Adam Levine-fronted pop-rock outfit are scheduled to hit Toronto's Budweiser Stage amphitheatre on September 2 with rapper blackbear

"This step opens possibilities to get Canada back on the touring map for sure," Arthur Fogel, chairman of global touring for Live Nation, told Billboard. "Some artists already have shows planned with more conversations picking up."

The group's large-scale performance follows that of Canadian band Arkells, who played three shows at the venue last weekend with Haviah Mighty, making them the first to take the Bud stage since the pandemic began. Sam Roberts BandMatt Mays and k-os will be next, slated to play there tonight.

Maroon 5 announced last week that they were joining the likes of Jason Isbell and many other musicians and would be starting to require proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test from concertgoers on August 16. Unfortunately, we have no choice but to respect them for that.

No matter how you feel about their music, this seems to be a net win in terms of the country's return to live shows.

Maroon 5 released their seventh studio album JORDI — dedicated to their late manager Jordan Feldstein — back in June, which features their collaboration with Megan Thee Stallion.
