It had previously been reported that AC/DC's forthcoming album, POWER UP, would feature unused guitar tracks from the band's late founding member and guitarist Malcolm Young, but brother Angus Young now claims that isn't quite the case.
In a recent interview with SiriusXM's Keith Roth [via Blabbermouth], Angus explained that Malcolm's contributions to the new album come more in the form of ideas than actual recordings.
"Malcolm's contribution is mainly the song ideas, which he did with me. So that's basically what Malcolm's contribution is to the whole album," Angus explained. "He was there in spirit, and you always feel him. He's there, especially with me — he's always part of my thoughts. I'm always thinking of him. As [is] everyone else."
Angus, who remains the lone surviving member of AC/DC's original lineup, had previously said POWER UP is a dedication to his late brother and bandmate. First single "Shot in the Dark" arrived earlier this month after some truly electric teasers.
POWER UP arrives November 13 via Columbia and follows AC/DC's 2014 album Rock or Bust. The band's 17th studio effort was recorded by a lineup of vocalist Brian Johnson, drummer Phil Rudd, bassist Cliff Williams, and guitarists Angus Young and nephew Stevie Young.
As reported earlier today, former AC/DC bassist Paul Matters has passed away.
