Maggie Rogers announced her sophomore album Surrender last week, sharing a trailer featuring a spoken-word voiceover and some fuzzy guitar. And today, Rogers has dropped the record's first single, the vaguely proggy, shapeshifting "That's Where I Am."
The song is a bit of a departure for Rogers, featuring some heavy live drums and a whole whack of surging layers. It kinda harkens back to a certain era of complex, brainy indie rock, and it's a good look on her!
Surrender is set to arrive July 29 on Capitol. Rogers co-produced the LP with past collaborator Kid Harpoon, and she recorded it in three studios — Electric Lady in New York, Peter Gabriel's Real World Studios in Bath, and her parents' garage.
