Ever since rapper DOOM (or as he used to be know, MF Doom) cut down his formerly heavy work output, it's been a hard, long wait for him to fulfill his promised second album with producer Madlib as Madvillain. Even Madlib started growing impatient, taking the time to rework Madvillainy into Madvillainy 2. Thankfully, we can all get excited about the prospect of a proper follow-up from the duo, as they've announced that they have begun work on an upcoming album.

The details are scarce, but Pitchfork reports that the duo are currently busy recording the as-yet-untitled LP. The website also mentions that TV on the Radio member Dave Sitek and rapper Mos Def are to be involved with the project, and when the album is ready, it will come out on Stones Throw.

To prove it's a real prospect, Stones Throw point to a new Madvillain track that label-made J.Rocc spun on his Eastvillageradio.com podcast Fat Beats Live. (The track is streamable below.)

And Madvillain will likely be performing some of these new tracks at We the People Festival on November 21 in L.A., where they will be appearing alongside Bad Religion and Suicidal Tendencies, among others.
