Mad Decent Block Party Leaves One Dead and More Than 20 Hospitalized in Maryland
In all too common news, Mad Decent Block Party's stop in Columbia, MD, was hit with tragedy Friday (August 1), with one festivalgoer pronounced dead and more than 20 hospitalized due to suspected drug overdoses.

As the Baltimore Sun reports, 20-year-old festival attendee Tyler Fox Viscardi, of Raleigh, NC, was pronounced dead in hospital, Howard County police said. However, at press time, it is unclear which kind of drugs led to the overdose.

A 17-year-old was also rushed from the festival to hospital and was listed in critical condition, with reports of more than 20 other attendees also suffering overdoses.

The festival issued the following statement: "We were shocked and saddened when we heard the news from yesterday's event at Merriweather Post Pavillion in Maryland. Our hearts go out to everyone impacted by this. Right now, we are waiting along with everyone else for more information."

Celebrating its 6th year, the Mad Decent Block Party has become an annual event, travelling across the U.S. and into Canada. This year's Canadian stops include Toronto, Vancouver and Calgary, and artists such as Outkast, Action Bronson, A$AP Ferg, Diplo and Sleigh Bells are attached to the festival.
