Mac Miller

"Melt" (ft. Schoolboy Q, prod. by Pete Rock)

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Jun 19, 2014

One year on from the release of Mac Miller's solid Watching Movies with the Sound Off, the Philly rap phenom has unveiled a rarity called "Melt" that re-teams him with "Gees" collaborator Schoolboy Q.

The buttery boom bap was blended up by the one and only Pete Rock, whose smooth vibraphone sounds and lightly clacked snare hits soon sidle up to the soothing sounds of rainfall. A shadow-clad Miller talks about watching movies with the sound off (right?) while eating a big bowl of Chinese food, apparently fully aware that aliens are keeping tabs on his actions. Q hops on the beat for a few low-key, though braggy bars.
