Mac Miller

"5 Foot Assassin"

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Mar 23, 2016

News broke earlier this morning (March 23) that Phife Dawg of the iconic hip-hop group A Tribe Called Quest had passed away, and Mac Miller has already paid his respects to the late rapper.

He's offered up a new song called "5 Foot Assassin," paying homage to the short-in-stature but big-on-talent founding member. The tribute track arrives under Miller's Larry Fisherman moniker, and features samples of a live performance of A Tribe Called Quest doing "Check the Rhime" on Arsenio Hall, as well as a verse from "1nce Again" off of the 1996 album Beats, Rhymes and Life [as pointed out by Fact].

Miller delivered "5 Foot Assassin" with the simple message: "RIP Phife Dawg. Thank You." Hear the Tribe-sampling, synth-heavy jam in the player below.
