Mac DeMarco is currently sitting pretty on the cover of Exclaim!'s May issue, and while he insists that "sometimes I'm goofy and sometimes I'm not," his latest stunt definitely falls into the former category.

The Canadian songsmith has unveiled a billboard in Los Angeles featuring a giant photo of his bandmate Jon Lent — totally unbeknownst to the subject. The sky-high sign features a photo of Lent on the phone with the caption "This… is Jon Lent," and a relatively tiny ad for DeMarco's new album in the bottom right-hand corner.

DeMarco revealed the prank via Instagram, detailing the billboard's location (on the corner of Glendale and Berkeley, above an Arco gas station) and unloading a barrage of hashtags, including: #lol #jonnydidntknow #jonnyknowsnow #bigjonny #jonnyuptop #jonnyontheboard #jonnysbigsurprise #heresjonny

Naturally, a shot of Lent discovering his new found fame has already surfaced on Twitter.

In case you can't read the billboard's fine print, DeMarco's latest LP This Old Dog is due out tomorrow (May 5) via Royal Mountain Records/Captured Tracks. You can order the album on silver vinyl here.
