Long Blondes' Kate Jackson Discusses Plans for Debut Solo LP

If you were excited by the news that onetime Long Blondes singer Kate Jackson will soon be releasing her debut single, then you'll also be pleased to learn that this isn't the end of her plans to put out new music. She's currently sitting on more than an album's worth of material and is planning to release a full-length next year.

Speaking with NME, Jackson revealed, "I've been working on [solo material] for three years now so I've got more than an album's worth of songs. I've got a big body of work and a lot to pick and choose from."

If she's already got more songs than she needs for an album, why hasn't she confirmed any release plans yet? Well, she's hoping that the new single will help her to drum up support for the album.

"I haven't committed to a record label yet," she explained. "This is to see what reaction I get, and I will hopefully put out an album next year."

As previously reported, these solo tunes were recorded with Suede axe-man Bernard Butler, who also co-wrote the material.

"I took my first song to him and I was absolutely fucking terrified because I was about to play this crappy track to my musical hero," Jackson admitted. Eventually she gained her confidence and Butler "made me feel like an equal."

For a taste of what they came up with, listen to the songs "Wonder Feeling" and "The Atlantic" from Jackson's debut seven-inch below. The disc comes out on December 5 and you can pre-order a copy from the Vinyl Factory.
