Lil Wayne's 'Tha Carter V' Gets Release Date and Some Amazing Artwork

BY Alex HudsonPublished Aug 14, 2014

Lil Wayne has a reputation for lengthy album delays, so we're going to take this with a grain of salt, but Weezy has announced a release date for his Tha Carter V and shared the cover artwork.

Wayne announced this info via a slightly surprising source: the ESPN TV program First Take. While discussing basketball with the hosts, a pop-up graphic at the bottom of the screen noted the October 28 release date.

UPDATE: In what should be a surprise to no one, the album has been delayed and will no longer be arriving October 28. A new release date has yet to be announced.

Above, we also now have the amazing cover artwork, which plays off the visual theme running through recent Tha Carter albums. Certainly, this image is a hell of a lot more interesting than the rumoured cover art that Kobe Bryant tweeted a little while back.

Expect Tha Carter V to feature the songs "Believe Me," "Krazy" and "Grindin." Now we'll just have to sit back and see if this release date holds firm or gets pushed back.

Wayne has promised that this will be one of two albums he releases in 2014.
