Lil Nas X and Tony Hawk Are Blood Brothers in New Skateboarding Tutorial

"Nah WE tweakin"

The latest unexpected 2021 pairing: rapper Lil Nas X and skateboard legend Tony Hawk. Except it's not as unexpected as you might think.

On Monday (August 30), Lil Nas X shared photos of the two together and a skate tutorial TikTok in which Hawk acts as his stunt double. The deck shown is from Hawk's sold-out recent collaboration with canned water company Liquid Death. As previously reported, the signature red colour in the exclusive design was made by infusing the athlete's blood with paint.

Earlier this year, the rapper launched a bloody product partnership of his own with New York design company MSCHF to create 666 pairs of Satanic sneakers that possibly contained a drop of human blood in the midsole.

Lil Nas X faced backlash over the shoe's design, which also included a pentagram and a reference to the Luke 10:18 Bible verse about Satan's fall from heaven. He was also hit with a lawsuit from Nike, settling with a recall of the sneakers in April. (But not before Miley Cyrus bought a pair!)

When the news of Hawk's blood-infused board came free of controversy, the rapper couldn't help but notice the hypocrisy of the situation.

"Now that Tony Hawk has released skateboards with his blood painted on them, and there was no public outrage, are y'all ready to admit y'all were never actually upset over the blood in the shoes? And maybe u were mad for some other reason?" Lil Nas X tweeted last Wednesday (August 24).

Fair point. Thankfully, this latest post proves that there's no bad blood between the pair. The "nah WE tweakin" caption plays off of the rapper's extremely viral comment on Rap's Instagram post announcing the Hawk x Liquid Death collaboration, which read "nah he tweakin."

There may have been reason to suspect that Lil Nas X had a vendetta against the renowned athlete, but they remedied everything out on the ramp — the rapper might have even taught the pro a thing or two!

"Today I'm going to be doing some airs; maybe a McTwist," LNX says in the clip, before showing us... exactly that.

This isn't Hawk's first celebrity TikTok cameo — he appeared in Avril Lavigne's first post on the platform earlier this year.

Lil Nax X recently shared the release date for his highly-anticipated debut album MONTERO.
