Fans eagerly awaiting Sisterworld, the fifth studio LP from Brooklyn art-rockers Liars, have been privy to a steady stream of info about the album. And with the release date of March 9 looming ever closer, more mouth-watering details are coming to the fore.
Last month, we reported the tracklist and release date of the album and posted the lead-off single "Scissor" in our Click Hear section. Now, the band have not only announced a special edition of Sisterworld, they've also confirmed a handful of North American dates.
The expanded version of the album will share a release date with the regular album, but will feature a bonus disc of "remixes and reinterpretations" of each of the 11 tracks on the albums. Said interpreters include Thom Yorke, Tunde Adebimpe (TV On the Radio), Bradford Cox (Deerhunter/Atlas Sound), Melvins, Alan Vega (Suicide), Chris & Cosey (Throbbing Gristle) and Blonde Redhead. Which tracks will be remixed by whom is still yet to be announced.
In a press release, Liars vocalist Angus Andrew explained the reasoning behind the bonus disc as a desire to "help develop and expand the role of the remix, particularly to engage artists less acknowledged for their work in the field. They were asked to 're-interpret' the song by any means necessary and the result is definitely the most exciting collaborative effort we've been involved in."
The band will follow up the record with a North American tour in April, on which Fol Chen will support all dates.
Tour dates:
4/10 Los Angeles, CA - El Rey Theatre
4/14 Washington, DC - Rock & Roll Hotel
4/15 New York, NY - Bowery Ballroom
4/16 Philadelphia, PA - First Unitarian Church
4/17 Boston, MA - Paradise
4/18 Brooklyn, NY - Music Hall of Williamsburg
4/27 San Francisco, CA - Slim's
4/29 Portland, OR - Hawthorne Theatre
4/30 Vancouver, BC - TBA
5/1 Seattle, WA - Neumos
