Liars Compose '1/1' Film Score

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Jun 7, 2016

Arty rock experimenters Liars may not have issued an LP since 2014's Mess, but the band's Aaron Hemphill and Angus Andrews will have their film score for a film titled 1/1 premiered this August in Berlin.

A listing for Germany's Pop-Kultur festival confirms that the film, made by director Jeremy Phillips and Liars, will premiere on August 31, Pitchfork points out. The film's narrative follows a Pennsylvania native named Lissa, who is "routinely trying to find a bit of distraction in sex and drugs." The film apparently traces her journey to the "rock bottom."

Hemphill and Andrews composed the score and "will discuss the idea behind the work and the relation of film and music in general" in a talk ahead of the film. As explained in a Facebook post, the next day will see Liars perform the score in a "special, one night only, 2 person configuration."
