Liam Payne Admitted to Not Liking His Former One Direction Bandmates and People Are Pissed

Nobody can drag One Direction down — except one of their own

One Direction fans are not happy with Liam Payne — you know, he used to be in 1D — after he sat down with controversial internet personality Logan Paul and revealed how he truly feels about his former bandmates on Paul's podcast, IMPAULSIVE. (See what he did there?)

Just 15 minutes into the hour-long episode, Payne opened up about his experience in the band and admitted that he and former bandmate Louis Tomlinson did not get along.

"Louis was wild and he wanted to be wild and that's his spirit," Payne told Paul. "He's my best mate now. But in the band, we hated each other."

However, the major source of the ruckus from the 1D stans is that Payne went on to share his opinion on Zayn Malik, the first member of One Direction to call it quits from the band in 2015.

Malik had a Twitter beef with Paul's younger brother Jake in 2020, which resulted in Malik's now ex-girlfriend Gigi Hadid referring to her ex as a "respectful king."

"That one didn't age very well," Payne said of the comment, referring to Malik later charging Hadid's mother for having allegedly harassed him.

"There's many reasons why I dislike Zayn," Payne went on, "and there's many reasons why I'll always, always be on his side."

But the damage was already done: One Direction fans quickly took to Twitter to clap back against the once-beloved boy band member.

Other stans pointed out that the other members of One Direction have gone out of their way in past interviews to not bad-mouth their bandmates: Harry Styles and Niall Horan even ate a scorpion and drank a salmon smoothie, respectively, on The Late Late Show with James Corden to avoid answering questions that were intended to stir up drama.

It's safe to say that even his most ardent fans now have a new understanding of the supreme reign of Liam's surname.
