Liam Gallagher's Pretty Green Clothing Line Bought by Retail Giant JD Sports

Multiple locations across the U.K. are now set to close

Following a recent string of very real financial struggles, Liam Gallagher's Pretty Green clothing brand has now been sold to U.K. chain retailer JD Sports.

The news comes after Pretty Green — the brand the Oasis singer founded in 2009 — recently went into administration last week. Now, though, it's found a buyer via retail giant JD Sports, essentially the U.K. equivalent of Sport Chek.

JD Sports has announced it will keep Pretty Green's flagship store open in Manchester, but Pretty Green's 11 other stores and 33 locations in House of Fraser will close, the BBC reports. This means 97 jobs are now at risk.

In a statement, Peter Cowgill, executive chairman of JD Sports, said: "We are pleased to have completed the acquisition of the highly regarded Pretty Green brand. We look forward to working with the team on future positive developments."

Simon Thomas, partner at administrators Moorfields, added: "Pretty Green is a popular brand and received a considerable amount of interest. We are confident that JD Sports is the right fit for the business and will help to grow its online and wholesale channels."

Strangely, Gallagher has remained silent for once, and he's yet to address Pretty Green's downfall on his typically very active Twitter.
