Levitation Vancouver Moves from Malkin Bowl to Commodore Due to "Unforeseen Circumstances"

Levitation Vancouver is set to bring a host of mind-altering music to a variety of venues within the city from June 16 to 18, though organizers have announced a major change in plans just days before the festivities begin.

Due to what a press release calls "unforeseen circumstances," the main portion of the festival slated to take place outdoors at Stanley Park's Malkin Bowl on June 17 and 18 has been moved indoors to the much smaller Commodore Ballroom.

Friday evening's lineup (June 17) now features performances from Tycho, Of Montreal, FIDLAR, Allah-Las, White Lung and Louise Burns, while Saturday (June 18) will see Flying Lotus, the Growlers, Thee Oh Sees, Hinds and Cherry Glazerr take the stage.

A few slight lineup changes have resulted in Louise Burns performing as part of Friday's Commodore lineup, while Malkin Bowl acts Boogarins will perform at the Rickshaw on June 18 and Dead Ghosts will play at the Cobalt on June 19.

The move to the indoors has resulted in a few unfortunate rule changes as well. With the Commodore unable to accommodate all-ages concertgoers, both evenings have become 19-plus events. While Malkin Bowl customers over the age of 19 will have their passes honoured, underage attendees can contact Ticketweb for a refund by June 15 at 10 a.m. PDT at help@ticketweb.ca or by phone at 1-888-222-6608.

The festival also reveals that both days will see venue doors open at 4 p.m., with performances running from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. As a bit of silver lining, the Commodore will feature what the press release calls "enhanced sound, visuals and Levitation merch area," as well as ins and outs until 8 p.m.
