LCD Soundsystem to Release Carl Craig Cover on New Twelve-Inch

BY Josiah HughesPublished Oct 27, 2010

Though he continues to embrace pop songs and expand his mass appeal with each release, DFA head and LCD Soundsystem mastermind James Murphy will never forget his love of all things techno. Earlier this year, when LCD Soundsystem released their excellent This Is Happening, they also dropped a cover of Paperclip People's techno classic, "Throw", as an iTunes exclusive. The love keeps coming, as they've given the track a proper vinyl release.

Paperclip People is one of the many aliases for house legend Carl Craig. "Throw" was originally released as a twelve-inch in 1994 and is widely considered to be a benchmark in Detroit techno. Craig also runs the Planet E imprint, which will press LCD Soundsystem's cover of the track with the original on the B-side. LCD Soundsystem have been performing "Throw" as part of their live set for the better part of the last five years.

According to a post on the DFA site, "Throw" will be available on a twelve-inch record in November via Planet E. Samples of both tracks can be streamed here.
