LCD Soundsystem Celebrated in New Photo Book

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Oct 24, 2012

Considering we aren't actually going to be hearing any James Murphy-produced material out of Arcade Fire or the Yeah Yeah Yeahs anytime soon, there's really not much LCD Soundsystem-related tunesmithing going on at the moment, if ever again. Fans will get a visual smorgasbord this holiday season, though, with the release of a new photo book simply titled LCD.

The collection arrives December 18 through Powerhouse Books and preserves a number of shots taken by New York City photographer Ruvan Wijesooriya, who is apparently a major fan. Shots included in the hardcover, 216-page package include stills that featured in the LCD Soundsystem concert film Shut Up and Play the Hits, as well as snaps used in Rolling Stone, Spin, the New York Times Magazine and the New Yorker.

A number of shots, apparently taken at "Hyde Park in London, various New York institutions, Coachella, Rick Rubin's recording mansion in the Hollywood Hills, Way Out West festival in Sweden, Miami Art Basel and more," will be published in the book for the very first time. You can sample some of the candid visuals over at Powerhouse's website.

On top of the shots, LCD also includes a number of interviews with members of the band. Murphy contributed an introduction to the book as well, stating, "All of Ruvan's pictures remind me of that feeling: that you're geographically fucked, and its all happening right now, somewhere else, without you. There's an enormous amount of intimacy in them, and promise, and intrusion…"
