Laurel Halo Becomes King Felix for Upcoming EP on New Mute Records Offshoot Label

While she's previously explored everything from heady synthscapes to the IDM influence on last year's Hour Logic EP, sonic experimenter Laurel Halo will reinvent herself once again on a new release this year. Rather than confuse her audience, however, Halo has adopted a new moniker in King Felix.

The EP is called Spring EP and is more likely to get listeners on the dancefloor than get lost in Halo's out-there productions, though her tendency toward strangeness is not lost completely. Of course, Halo fans will likely remember that King Felix was also the name of her 2010 EP on Hippos in Tanks.

King Felix's Spring EP is set to drop on March 19 in the UK via Liberation Technologies, which is a new offshoot of Mute Records spearheaded by Patrick O'Neill.

According to a statement from the new imprint, "the label exists to give space to and encourage artists to experiment and challenge themselves, anonymously if they choose... As important as the music itself, will be statement design, a commitment to vinyl product and inventive methods of releasing each work."
