Kurt Vile Readies 'So Outta Reach' EP, 'Smoke Ring for My Halo' Deluxe Edition

Published Sep 06, 2011
While the release of the Exclaim!-approved Smoke Ring for My Halo already clinched 2011 as a banner year for lo-fi folkie Kurt Vile, the Philadelphia native is ready to take his victory lap with the release of a new EP.A press release explains that the six-song So Outta Reach compiles a handful of tracks recorded during the Smoke Ring for My Halo sessions, but the until-now unused tunes were reworked this summer with producer John Agnello. The mini-set delivers five Vile originals and a cover of Bruce Springsteen's "Downbound Train." You can download the hazy road rambler "The Creature" here.
So Outta Reach will be issued via Matador on November 8 as a twelve-inch EP or digital download. If you haven't already picked up Vile's latest full-length, you might want to wait until November 8, as the album will be issued as a two-disc deluxe set with So Outta Reach on the extra platter.
So Outta Reach:
1. "The Creature"
2. "It's Alright"
3. "Life's A Beach"
4. "Laughing Stock"
5. "Downbound Train"
6. "(so outta reach)"
