Steven "Saint Dog" Thronson — co-founder of stoner rap-rock unit Kottonmouth Kings — has died. News of his death broke late yesterday (October 14), with the group confirming the sad news. He was 44.
"We will miss you and your big heart. You were one of a kind and our hearts our broken," the statement from Kottonmouth Kings reads. "But we promise to keep your legacy alive through your music. Everyone please take some time and say a few words or tell a story about our fallen brother below. He touched so many and we will keep his legacy thriving."
As TMZ reports, Thronson was found dead at a friend's home in Victorville, CA, a town about 140 kilometres northeast of Los Angeles. Apparently, the rapper was found by his friend struggling to breathe in a bedroom and died at 12:10 a.m. PT on Tuesday.
Thronson founded Kottonmouth Kings alongside Dustin "D-Loc" Miller and Johnny Richter in 1996. Saint Dog went on appear on the group's first three albums before rejoining them again on 2012's Mile High and on their most recent effort, 2018's Kingdom Come.
