Back in the fall, Kid Cudi announced that he was disenchanted with hip-hop and was planning to pick up a guitar for a rock band called Wizard. Now, he has ditched the name Wizard, but will be pressing ahead with a new moniker.

The project is now called 2 Be Continuum. Cudi announced he was dropping the Wizard name during a concert at New York's Roseland Ballroom on April 21, when he told crowd [via Complex], "We had to be more original and do something different, but it's still wizardry at its finest."

As for what the upcoming album will sound like, the rapper said, "I've only been playing guitar for nine months but the records are fucking epic. Epic. Really solid."

Cudi also confirmed that Dot Da Genius is still on board as producer, explaining, "Basically, it's just me and Dot. We've been working real hard on this project. I'm really fucking excited for you to hear it." And apparently, we can expect the first single sometime later this year.

In addition to renaming his band, Kid Cudi also unveiled the name of his new label, Wicked Awesome Records. Watch Cudi announce both the band and label below.
