After Taylor Swift ripped off Beyoncé, Drake shouted out Arya Stark and Cardi B flashed her butt (and only her butt) at the Billboard Music Awards on Wednesday night (May 1), Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner got hitched — but that wasn't the only post-show excitement. Host and performer Kelly Clarkson also had to get her appendix removed.
The original American Idol winner was on her game throughout the entire broadcast, but was rushed to hospital immediately after the awards show. Early yesterday (May 2) morning, she had surgery to remove her appendix.
Clarkson apparently knew she was suffering from appendicitis for about a week before the show, but nevertheless soldiered on and put off the surgery until after her hosting gig was complete.
She's since opened up about the experience via Twitter, writing, "Not gonna lie.... I may or may not have broken down in tears after the show from pain."
"BUT thanks 2 all the amazing people @ Cedars-Sinai I flew home directly after the event, nailed the surgery early this morning, & feeling awesome now!" she added. "Bye bye appendix."
