Kehlani Recovering After Reported Suicide Attempt

Early this morning (March 29), news emerged that 20-year-old R&B upstart Kehlani is recovering in hospital following a reported suicide attempt.

The singer posted a photo of herself to Instagram, depicting her in a hospital bed hooked up to an IV. It has since been deleted, but the caption read:

Today I wanted to leave this earth. Being completely selfish for once. Never thought I'd get to such a low point. But.. Don't believe the blogs you read .. No one was cheated on and I'm not a bad person… Everyone is hurt and everyone is in a place of misunderstanding.. But as of today, I had no single wish to see tomorrow.. But God saved me for a reason, and for that… I must be grateful.. Cuz I'm not in heaven right now for a reason… On that note.. Bye Instagram.

The post followed a wave of social media attacks against Kehlani after Mississauga rapper PARTYNEXTDOOR posted a photo of himself and the singer in bed together with the caption: "After all her shenanigans, still got the r&b singer back in my bed."

The pair reportedly broke up last year, and until recently, Kehlani was rumoured to be dating NBA player Kyrie Irving.

Following her initial Instagram posting, Kehlani shared another message thanking PARTYNEXTDOOR for "saving my life."

At the time of press, Kehlani's Instagram page has been wiped of all posts, and the aforementioned PARTYNEXTDOOR photo has also been removed.

UPDATE (3/30, 8 a.m.): Kehlani briefly returned to Instagram last night (March 29) to offer an update. In a post that has since been deleted, she shared a photo of a flower, letting followers known in the caption that she is "healthy, home, & with ppl who love me."

Colleagues and well-wishers took to social media to share their support for the singer as she recovers, and you can see some of those messages below.
