Kaytranada Calls Out Racism Deniers in Canada

"I can't be shut down this time"

As anti-racism protests rage on south of the border, producer Kaytranada has offered his voice to Montreal demonstrators, calling out Canadians who still adhere to the idea that racism is an American problem.

In a series of tweets posted over the last week, Kaytra has called out his former classmates that used racist slurs against him, as well as white journalists and politicians that attempt to bury the racism that people of colour experience in Montreal and Quebec.

The producer also engaged with a fan who spoke out against Quebec's Bill 62 — which effectively bans religious headwear like niqabs.

Montreal protestors recently marched against police brutality amid a string of similar uprisings across the world. Multiple demonstrations have taken place in Canada since the death of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery and countless other Black people, including 29-year-old Toronto woman Regis Korchinski-Paquet.
