Kanye West Reportedly Fired Yeezy Employee for Trying to Add Drake to the Office Playlist

"I thought, 'Oh, he's a rapper, I should probably mention some rap'"

Things have been a little quiet in the camp of current menace to society and the artist formerly known as Kanye West. So, naturally, it was the perfect time for Rolling Stone to publish a report offering an in-depth look into the disgraced rapper's Adidas-produced Yeezy company — which apparently had an unspoken no-listening-to-Drake-in-the-office policy.

Employee treatment at Yeezy seems to have been, as one may guess, not great! "Chaos" is the go-to adjective for describing how the atmosphere was at the brand's office, with the ex-staffers alleging a "cult-like" environment.

"Nothing has ever compared to the amount of chaos, the amount of stress and [the amount of] anxiety you go through working for Yeezy," a senior staffer claimed. An employee from 2020 echoed: "Everyone's always on the verge of losing their job, so the dynamics are total chaos." Others claimed that the rapper "thrives" off of said chaos.

Another former employee talked to the publication about how Ye was partial to playing his own music in the office, and how, sometime in 2015, a staffer suggested listening to something else. West reportedly proceeded to ask for suggestions.

"I thought, 'Oh, he's a rapper, I should probably mention some rap,'" the ex-staff member told Rolling Stone, having settled on bringing Drake to the table. "Big mistake — the next day I was fired." (And 2015 was the era of If You're Reading This, It's Too Late Drake, so that's everyone's loss.)

A top creative was also reportedly fired for wearing a yellow sweater, after West allegedly told them, "dress for the palette or you dress in black."

Adidas ended its partnership with West last month following his antisemitic comments. "Adidas does not tolerate antisemitism and any other sort of hate speech," the company said in a statement. Gap, Balenciaga and artist talent agency CAA have all cut ties with the rapper, resulting in him losing his billionaire status — but not before he bought right-wing social media app Parler.

Drake just released his new collaborative album with 21 Savage, Her Loss, which includes a misogynoir lyric that certainly seems like it's about Megan Thee Stallion's alleged shooting at the hands of Brampton rapper Tory Lanez.
