With her new album Little Oblivions on its way next month, Julien Baker has given us a taste of what's to come with a new single titled "Hardline," as well as its accompanying music video.
The stop-motion effort was directed by Joe Baughman, who spent 600 hours creating the paper-and-glue world for "Hardline" to live in based on "travel ephemera" collected by Baker.
"It was a fun and ambitious challenge creating something that could accompany such a compelling song," Baughman wrote in a statement. "The style of the set design, inspired by a sculpture that Julien created, was especially fun to work in. I loved sifting through magazines, maps, and newspapers from the '60s and '70s and finding the right colours, shapes, and quotes to cover almost every surface in the video."
Little Oblivions will arrive through Matador Records on February 26. When we last heard from Baker, she shared the album's lead single, "Faith Healer."
