Julien Baker Announces Sophomore LP 'Turn Out the Lights,' Shares New Single

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Aug 17, 2017

Julien Baker impressed with her 2015 offering Sprained Ankle (as well as an appearance on Exclaim! TV), and now the Memphis-born singer-songwriter has announced plans for a new record. Turn Out the Lights marks her sophomore full-length, and it's due out on October 27 via Matador.

The new LP was self-produced by Baker at Ardent Studios in her hometown, and it hears the artist expanding her sonic scope, while maintaining confessional songwriting style. A press release notes that the new batch of songs explore "how we deal and cope with our struggles, and how it all impacts both ourselves and our relationships of all kinds."

The first track to be unveiled off the forthcoming record is "Appointments." Scroll past the complete Turn Out the Lights tracklisting below to give it a listen.

Baker will also be touring in support of the new album, including Canadian stops in Montreal and Vancouver. See all of her upcoming shows listed below.
