Julian Casablancas Just Delivered a Downer Version of "I Wish It Was Christmas Today"

As the Strokes gear up for a supposed 2019 comeback, Julian Casablancas is giving us a last-minute holiday offering with a previously unreleased version of the Saturday Night Live yultetide classic "I Wish It Was Christmas Today," this time by his other band the Voidz. But be warned, there is little to no cheer to be found.

The song first arrived way back in the year 2000 courtesy of SNL heroes Horatio Sanz, Jimmy Fallon, Chris Kattan and Tracy Morgan, and Casablancas famously covered it back in 2009. But while that previous Casablancas rendition played it rather straight, this newly delivered "demo" version is a hell of a lot darker. In fact, Casablancas and co. have just delivered a serious Xmas downer this time around.
