Alex Somers' music career has had him collaborating with Sigur Ros' Jónsi as Jónsi & Alex, as well as producing his partner's score to We Bought a Zoo. His next project brings him back to the silver screen, as Somers has composed a score to forthcoming Viggo Mortensen vehicle, Captain Fantastic.

Written and directed by Matt Ross (28 Hotel Rooms), the film is due to premiere on January 23 at the Sundance Film Festival. Press materials confirm that Somers provides the music for the film.

The movie stars Mortensen as Ben, a husband and father raising his children in isolation within a forest in the Pacific Northwest. It's explained that tragedy takes hold of the family, forcing them "to leave their self-created paradise" and "face the excitement and the perils of an unfamiliar outside world."

Captain Fantastic also stars Frank Lagella, Kathryn Hahn, Steve Zahn, George MacKay and Anne Dowd.

The film will be screened several times throughout the Sundance Film Festival, which runs January 21 to 31 across Park City, Utah. You can find out more about Captain Fantastic over here.

With Jónsi, Somers co-wrote the score to 2014 coming-of-age drama The Wilderness of James.
