Jonathan Demme's 'Neil Young Life' Documentary Heading to TIFF

Jonathan Demme clearly has a major penchant for Neil Young. The Silence of the Lambs filmmaker has previously directed the features Neil Young: Heart of Gold and Neil Young: Trunk Show. Now, the director is getting ready to roll out yet another movie about his favourite musical subject.

The new film is called Neil Young Life, and it's due to premiere on September 12 at this year's Toronto International Film Festival. According to the festival website, it's a documentary about Young's two performances at Toronto's Massey Hall in May of this year. Live footage from the shows is interspersed with "brief scenes from a road trip through Ontario."

Be sure to read our review of one of those Massey Hall shows here and get more info on the movie here.

This isn't all that music fans have to look forward to from this year's TIFF. The festival will also include the world premiere of The Love We Make, the new 9/11-themed documentary about Paul McCartney. It centres on the Beatles legend's Concert for New York City in 2001.

We previously heard that documentaries about Pearl Jam and U2 will be coming to TIFF, so it looks as if music lovers will have a full plate at this year's event.
