Last year, Morrissey launched back into his Johnny mard after lashing out at his ex-bandmate for turning down a Smiths reunion and greatest hits album. Both before and after debunking claims that he solely owns the Smiths trademark, it was abundantly clear that Johnny Marr had no intentions of getting the band back together, and now, he's talking more about his decision.

The iconic guitarist was a recent guest on the Stick to Football podcast, and he described himself as a "serial joiner" of bands, stating that there have been no hard feelings in most of the bands he's joined and left, including Modest Mousethe Cribs and the Pretenders. That said, he shared that it was an emotional decision to leave the Smiths, but he regrets nothing.

When the topic of his declining the reunion recently came up, Marr was candid about his reasoning, saying it wasn't just about principles: "I'm not an idiot. I just think the vibe's not right. Bad vibe."

He continued: "It was an eye-watering amount of money, but also, I really like what I'm doing now, which makes it a lot easier. I like where I'm at ... I still want to write the best song I've ever written. I want to be a better performer."

Elsewhere in the interview, Marr said that at their peak, he thought the Smiths "were the best band in the world." "But those relationships broke down and that's life," he added. For someone being accused of "bitchslap" comments from Morrissey, he certainly seems like the level-headed one. Watch the whole podcast appearance below.

Earlier this week, Marr called for a free Palestine while defending Kneecap.
