Joe Vickers is a man of the land. During the summer, he lives as a grain farmer in Alberta, but when the winter hits he packs up and takes his life as a musician (both solo and as the frontman for folk-punk group Audio/Rocketry) on the road. Now, in the heart of winter, Vickers has shared a brand new video for his song "Brokeback Son" — and Exclaim! has got the exclusive premiere.
The folksy ballad aches with earnestness and rootsy melancholy, driven by the strum of acoustic guitar, gorgeous strings and Vickers' raw, emotive vocals. It's paired with striking visuals of placid prairie landscapes, which provide the backdrop to the lonely lifestyle of the song's title character (played by Dustin Blumhaden).
