Joan of Arc Add Canadian Tour Dates on North American Tour; Tim Kinsella Preps Novel

BY Gregory AdamsPublished May 25, 2011

Last month, long-running Chicago art rockers Joan of Arc released their latest album, the Steve Albini-produced Life Like, and promptly hit the road. They've now added another North American leg to their ongoing tour, which sees the Tim Kinsella-led troupe playing a pair of Canadian dates.

Following a European tour in June, Joan of Arc will make their way to Toronto's Garrison on August 5, and they will play Casa del Popolo in Montreal the next day. You can check out the rest of the dates below.

In other Joan of Arc news, main man Kinsella is readying his debut novel for a fall release. A press release explains that The Karaoke Singer's Guide to Self-Defense is a "strange, dream-like debut novel is filled with painfully aware characters, families, and outcasts caught in inherited rhythms of cruelty and ambivalence."

Highlights may include a kidnapped child, musings at a funeral, someone working at a toothpaste factory and a strip club being passed on to an unwilling heir. Considering the Dada-esque lyrics that have flowed from Kinsella over the years, expect the tome to be a weird one.

The book will be released by Featherproof books on October 11.
