Jim O'Rourke and Fennesz Team Up for New Editions Mego Album

BY Calum SlingerlandPublished Mar 30, 2016

No strangers to working with one another, Jim O'Rourke and Christian Fennesz last collaborated together on 2012's In Hell as a trio with Peter Rehberg. Now, the two have teamed up to release their first record as a duo, It's Hard for Me to Say I'm Sorry, through Rehberg's Editions Mego label.

Recorded in Kobe, Japan, in September 2015, the album is made up of two side-long tracks making for what the label describes as "a deeply rewarding sonic experience from two of the most romantic gentlemen active in experimental music today." The record's cover art was also shot by O'Rourke himself.

The record comes after a busy 2015 for O'Rourke, highlighted by his solo LP Simple Songs, and Fennesz's work with King Midas Sound on the collaborative Edition 1 and OZmotic's Air Effect.

It's Hard for Me to Say I'm Sorry will see release on June 24 through Editions Mego. Look through the tracklist and listen to an excerpt of "I Just Want You to Stay" in the player below.
